#9: Consumer Repair Thy Stuff

If your favorite appliance or tool stops working, take it to your local repair shop. Many products only have a loose wire or need cleaning.

Older appliances are better made, last longer, and have more metal and less
plastic parts.


 


Bonus fun!
If you decide not to go this route, before you get rid of that CD player or electric clock try to fix it yourself. Give it a shot, you’re getting rid of it anyway.

With no formal training I’ve tinkered with and resurrected a 5 disc CD player, an electric drill, a coffee maker, a stove door, a dishwasher and numerous lamps. I’ve even replaced a hard drive in an old laptop.

Trouble shoot problems with a Google search. There are numerous repair geeks out there with step-by-step instructions on how to repair ANYTHING!
